About Our Old Brown Java Coffee Beans

Old Brown Java coffee (also called Old Government Java) comes from the Island of Java in Indonesia. This is a 'long-aged' coffee, where the coffee beans are allowed to naturally age in warehouses for at least 2 years. Old Brown Java is one of the most famous and sought after of the 'aged' coffees.

The flavour of these arabica coffee beans is truly unique, and similar only to our Monsoon Malabar in spicyness. The musky complex aromas are matched by the rustic earthy flavour notes. The long finish and big body makes this coffee especially impressive.

What You Will Get

All of our coffee is freshly roasted by us at our traditional family-run coffee roastery in rural Kent. You will receive a bag of coffee that is very much a premium product, where the aromas and flavours will be exceptionally delicious, and remarkably better than what you may be used to from the supermarket

About Brewing This Coffee

This coffee works fantastically well in all brewing equipment, including espresso / cappucino machines, cafetiere pots, paper / metal filter brewers, and turkish brewers.

16-Jan-10 - Old Brown Java is less bitter than other beans with a lovely chocolate aftertaste. I find I can drink this black and I usually always have milk with my coffee. We use it in the Pub all the time now. A coffee to please everyone.

03-Feb-11 - I love coffee from this part of the world and have to say this is one of the better Old Brown Java I have had. Lovely long lingering taste but not too bitter and smooth. Great for the first cup in the morning.

09-Feb-11 - I have tried a few of Coffee Bean Shop coffees and really enjoyed them all, except for this one. For me it is far too bitter, leaving a nasty bitter after-taste in the back of the mouth for quite a while after. I find this a little strange, as other reviewers have said they find it smooth, but mine certainly isn't. Might be worth a second try to see if it's different, but not until I have tried a few different ones first. Sorry Coffee Bean Shop but you have not hit the mark for me this time.
