Many of our customers prefer a longer and more delicate cup of coffee, than that available via an espresso shot. Most of our freshly roasted coffee beans can be used with any brewing technique, so the great flavour of freshly roasted coffee is available to all. The most popular non-espresso method used by our customers to enjoy their coffee beans is the French Press (Cafetiere) method.
- Firstly, you need to grind your coffee beans just right. A little experimentation is required here, but typically you'll be about half-way on your grinder for a coarse cafetiere grind.
- Next Put a heaped tablespoon of coffee into the cafetiere for each cup.
- Add as many cups worth of 'just off the boil' water to the cafetiere to match the dose of coffee. Make sure you pour the water so that all the coffee is covered (No stirring !!!).
- Place a plate over the top of the cafetiere for 2 minutes, to allow the coffee to settle without disturbing the bloom (brown froth of essential coffee oils).
- Remove the plate and place the cafetiere plunger on top of the pot (dont plunge) for an additional 2 minutes.
- Plunge the coffee, pour, and enjoy immediately.
NOTE: if the bloom on your cafetiere is excessive, then it is because the coffee is too freshly roasted. Leave the coffee for another day,and it'll be perfect.
