Product Information
Sourced from coffee's birthplace, Ethiopia, our Yirgacheffe coffee beans carry a distinctive yellow stripe once roasted. Ethiopian coffee grows natively in its purest form here, still found in garden farms and growing wild all over the region. For many coffee lovers, Ethiopian Yirgacheffe is the real deal of the coffee world. This delightful, fruity Ethiopian coffee is hand-picked and sold in markets before being processed and selected at the mills, and local knowledge is key to finding the best crops at certain times of the year. Fittingly for coffee's homeland, legend has it that coffee itself was first discovered in Ethiopia by a goat herder named Kaldi in the 9th century, when he noticed his goats behaving erratically after eating coffee cherries. A hand-picked, top quality washed coffee grown as 'Garden Coffee' by local smallholders, Yirgacheffe coffee is a truly hand grown, picked, washed and dried product, allowing small Ethiopian coffee farmers to live and work with dignity. It's a consistent top seller, bought again and again by returning customers. Our latest crop suits all brewing methods. We recommend a morning paper filter brew for a coffee this pure, though it also pulls a mean espresso. It never disappoints.
