For me, this is the real deal of the coffee world. Beans with a distinctive yellow stripe once roasted, which I source from coffee's birthplace, Ethiopia, where it grows natively in its purist form and is still found in garden farms; growing in the wild all over this region. Hand-picked and sold in markets before being processed and selected at the mills.
Local knowledge is key to finding the best coffee crops at certain times of the year. Legend has it, coffee was first discovered in Ethiopia by a goat herder named Kaldi in the 9th Century when he noticed his goats behaving erratically after eating coffee cherries from the plants This is always a top seller, consistently bought and repeatedly bought by returning customers.
For a coffee this pure, we recommend a paper filter brew…..it also pulls a mean espresso!
This Yirgacheffe (Yirg) is a hand-picked top quality washed coffee, grown as 'Garden Coffee' by local smallholders.
This premium gourmet coffee bean is a truly hand grown, picked, washed and dried product which allows small Ethiopian farmers to live and work with dignity.

I was sent this coffee bean as a thank you gesture ( very much appreciated by the way) and I have to say it is by far the best coffee I have tasted to date. It produces the best flavour for any type of coffee ( cappuccino, americano, latte, espresso ). This is now my bean of choice & I was lucky enough to receive a 1kg delivery just before Christmas :) happy days.Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By NEIL ANDREWS

One of the smoothest, creamiest tasting coffees I've had the pleasure to drink. I use the Barista Express machine and the crema was unbelievably thick and delicious. I'd like to try a dry processed Yirg to compare it with though just to see the difference. I shall definitely buy this coffee again.Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By Jonathan Mallalieu

Everybody's taste is different. To my mind on its own this is a top quality after-dinner coffee with what I have heard described as a "wine-like" taste. I find it a bit too 'rich' for a truly refreshing breakfast cup.
On the other hand for drinking throughout the day I mix my own blend of beans (Monsoon Malabar, Costa Rican, Colombian and Yirgacheffe - if anyone is interested) of which the Yirgacheffe is only 11%. Without the Yirgacheffe the blend is a bit too 'flat' with it the blend really comes alive. I think this is a testament to what the Yirgacheffe could bring to any blend you might want to try.Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By St John Hattersley

I can only confirm the other reviews. This is one very special coffee. There is something rather special about the Mocha bean. I find it necessary to open up the grind a tad to get my favoured 2.1/2.2:1 as compared to Monsoon Malabar.Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By Richard Froggatt

I love this coffee. it is medium roast and doesn't leave a horrible aftertaste in your mouth like some coffees you get in popular coffee shops. It is creamy and delicious. I use it in my espresso pot, 2 shots of coffee and around 150 ml of milk...The perfect flat white!!!Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By Nadine Slim

Easily one of the best coffee's I've ever tasted. The beans are drier (you can hear the difference to other beans when grinding) and the taste has a smooth strong and dry sort of texture. Very goodRating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By Mike Jackson

This is a coffee with big flavour and there is such harmony between the richness and depth of the flavour and the caressing smoothness. From the moment I ripped open the packet and took in that first whiff of aroma to the last drop I loved this coffee. It's a coffee you could happily make a lifelong companion. This one will likely become a staple of my future orders.Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By Jordan Forster

It's all been said, but I'll throw my two cents worth in all the same. This is probably one of the nicest, smoothest and strongest tasting coffee you'll find. When I say strong I mean in flavour more so than the coffee itself. The aroma and taste is second to none. Buy it, you won't be dissapointed.Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By Craig Hutcheson

I have tried most of the coffees on here, and for my tastes this is my favourite, and it is all I order now rich, strong smooth. Although my palette is not sophisticated enough to tell you about the tastes notes, I can tell you I get a consistently great espresso from the equipment I have with this bean,Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By Chris Kelly
