After our first successful and ongoing vegetable box, I wanted to cook an Asian styled curry with my children, but unfortunately didn't have the ingredients. Annoying right, after many a phone call around the village we quickly found out that this wasn't just a problem in our household but possibly a problem for the whole of Kent. After the evening we decided to create the Oh My, It's Thai! We have included many fresh oriental vegetables and herby bits for you to enjoy middle eastern cooking at home.
Within the box I am also including a few empty paper bags. These can be used for anything in the box you have a surplus of, or don’t need. We want to “share the love locally”, so pop anything you don’t need in the paper bag and be sure to write a nice message on it for your neighbour and leave it on their doorstep. It could be a garlic bulb or some potatoes, coffee beans, whatever you feel would be thoughtful.
To save on packaging and to protect the veggies, your box will be sturdy cardboard and lined with an empty genuine coffee sack. They can be upcycled later and are handy for collecting garden waste...or could be used as a textiles project whilst you are at home with plenty of time on your hands!
My father is 82 years old and self -isolating. He hasn’t been able to find fresh vegetables and can’t get a delivery in Surrey from any of the on-line supermarkets. I wanted to send him some broccoli (and some lemons for his G&T’s) and then...well I had a bit of a light bulb moment about sending out green beans instead…you get the picture. The idea snowballed last week and here we are! I wanted to save people having to leave their homes unnecessarily and make full use of the resources and contacts that I have made locally.
super fresh and great content variety ... my mother was overjoyed to receive it together with the roaster choice that I added to the order for an added little something special. She loved the inclusion of the gloves and toilet roll - a real delivery of rations :)Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By oli shepheard
