Kopi Luwak… A MUST TRY (At least) ONCE COFFEE!!
There’s a bit of a story about Kopi Luwak. It takes its name from its Indonesian origin, Kopi meaning coffee and the Luwak Civet cat from Sumatra when it was first discovered by some ingenious farm workers in the 19th century. Forbidden from taking from the coffee harvest, these workers noticed that civet droppings near the plantations still contained whole coffee beans and that once removed from the droppings, these beans could be brewed and savoured just like any other coffee. It’s now favoured as one of the world’s finest. This is the coffee Jack Nicholson drinks in the film “The Bucket List”
There’s been some bad press about the civet cats and how they are treated and force fed in the production of Kopi Luwak. To reassure you, I only buy my Kopi Luwak from an industry trusted friend, Joseph, who has meticulously visited each farm to confirm the animals' welfare. We support these small, trusted farms where the Civet cats are treated with freedom and kindness. So, if you haven’t tried this, it’s an absolute must, and you can try it without any concern for the Luwaks in Sumatra. We would urge you to think long and hard as buying this coffee from another source will encourage this practice of battery farming.
Our coffee is fully certified, so we know where it has come from and that the civet cats are not battery farmed.
For those of you that have not seen "The Bucket List", or need a refresher, the story revolves around two terminally ill men (Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman) who create a list of things to do before they die.
The men meet in a hospital room where they are roommates. Jack Nicholson's character drinks a fancy coffee called Kopi Luwak. Morgan Freeman gives him a hard time about drinking the fancy Kopi Luwak coffee, and says he prefers normal coffee. As the men are creating their bucket list, Morgan Freeman's character adds "Laugh until I cry" as an entry…. This is something to try… something that you can say you have done!
A Civet eats the berries for their fleshy pulp. In the digestive tract, the Civets proteolytic enzymes seep into the beans, making shorter peptides and more free amino acids. Passing through a Civet's intestines the beans are then defecated, keeping their shape. After gathering, thorough washing, sun drying, light roasting and brewing, these beans yield an aromatic coffee with much less bitterness.
If you are looking for an exclusive, high quality coffee bean, why not try our Hawaiian Kona or Jamaican Blue Mountain both of which are sure to please your taste buds.

The experts say to appreciate this unique bean it has to be black, avoid milk and sugar.Tried it black and it was bitter and not especially unusual but added milk and sugar and it now tastes unlike anything else I've drunk. It's a very pleasant addictive nutty flavour with no bitterness whatsoever. Will certainly buy it again soon.Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By Craig Benson

I bought this coffee for the novelty value, for my coffee-loving wife, for Christmas. I know nothing bout coffee; preferring Tea...
I can honestly say... This coffee is delicious! Jack Nicholson was right all along!!
My wife and all our friends have loved a cup of "Cat-Poo-Coffee" after recent dinner parties. It really has proved popular with all!
I can seriously see why this coffee is so sought-after. Well worth the premium price. I think I may have been converted to a coffee lover. (even if it is cat poop) 😊

I tried this out of curiosity having seen the bucket list and heard how much it was per cup in fancy restaurants. I must admit i was very impressed. Very smooth and quite strong but with no bitterness at all.
Would recommend to anyone. I 'spiked' my friends as they werent keen to try cat sh1t as they call it but they all loved it and were shocked when i revealed what it was.

Espresso was beautiful, but personally I find that this coffee stands out in a double shot americano. Bold flavour with a full body, and minimal to no bitterness (make sure to warm your espresso cups beforehand!). I'm happy with this purchase.Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By Juan Rodriguez

I bought this as a "try once" when I retired. It is amazing - strong but smooth and not at all bitter. Too expensive for an every day coffee, but one I intend to buy for special occasions.Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By Peter Price

A must try once coffee, indeed.
I tried it as an espresso and was blown away. Amazingly delicate flavours for an espresso, with no bitterness.
I usually drink long blacks, finding espresso too bitter, but not with this.
I'm looking forward to trying it long.Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By Daniel Rickard

This coffee is surprising, it's beautiful, flavoursome and rich yet there is no bitterness whatsoever. It's like drinking coffee with milk..... Without milk!! I drink mine black with no sugar and I don't think"this needs sugar". 100 grams isn't going to last me a very long time at all :(Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By Dean Moncaster

I can definitely understand why this is an expensive coffee having spent the last 2 years experimenting all various coffee beans from around the world. It's a strong blend but ever so smooth without the bitter/zingy after taste but does leave a very nice taste at the back of your tongue (which is very hard to explain :) ) but is very addictive and makes you want to drink more! if only i won the lottery!Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By michael cheung
