Monsooned Malabar is aged and dried slowly in the monsoon winds on the west coast of India. Laid in open-sided barns, the moisture laden winds from the Arabian Sea swell the exposed beans during the monsoon months of June to September.
It’s an interesting bean to roast. The ageing process means they look different in their raw form, older than the usual green beans that we see. We know it here in the roastery as “Mellow Yellow” as it’s green (raw) beans are actually yellow and not green. It’s also our second most popular coffee, so we roast a lot of it!
As with all our coffees, it can be brewed in all methods, but we think espresso is best to maintain its excellent crema.
Cup profile: Light to medium light Sweet and Fairly soft
When the beans arrive in the UK, we slow roast them meticulously in small batches until we reach the optimum roasted colours which makes the coffee appealing both to the palate and the eye.
What You Will receive
All of our coffee beans are freshly roasted by us at our traditional family-run coffee roastery in rural Kent. You will receive a bag of coffee that is very much a premium product, where the aromas and flavours will be exceptionally delicious and remarkably better than what you may be used to from the supermarket.

I found that this had a weak taste and was 'dusty' when put through a burr. Would suggest trying others.Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!]By Graham Harrison

Coffee Bean Shop Ltd reply: Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy this as much as you'd hoped to! Our Monsoon Malabar has a distinct "earthy" flavour due to the ageing process.
A medium tasting coffee when made up as a latte, it packs a decent punch as a crema. With a nice soft back-taste I find this good for every day drinking.Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By Gloria Booth

I usually buy the 5 bag promo to try a variety of coffees but this Monsooned Malabar has become one of my favourites so I order more of this each time too. Although a round smooth medium flavour (and I normally prefer a bigger flavour to get me going in the morning) this wonderful soft nuttiness still sets me up for the day and I find myself going back for even more - not because I need the caffeine but because I like it so much! I was more than disappointed that I could find no decent coffee when I went to India so thank you Coffee Bean Shop for stocking it!Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By William Ford-Young

I have been a long standing customer of the Coffee Bean Shop and the service has always been fantastic! It may also be worth noting I have never had an issue with any of my orders!
The Monsooned Malabar has been a firm favourite for some time now and I can't believe that this coffee has not yet been reviewed.
This really is a great coffee time after time and is very consistent every time I order! The beans produce a lovely crema and is wonderful as an espresso. A bold, full tasting coffee with a nice kick! Don't have too many though or you'll be buzzing all day!
I highly recommend you try this if you haven't already.... your missing out!Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By James Garibbo
