This one is up there in my favourite coffees and this latest crop is hands down my favourite coffee this year because of its comforting chocolatey and butterscotch flavours, in fact when I was spokesperson for the BBC on national coffee day a few years ago, it was an equally good crop and when interviewed, this was my favourite that year too . It’s a perfect drink for a lazy cold morning. I love it with full fat steamed milk as an alternative to a hot chocolate.
Sustainably shade grown, the coffee plants here are treated with care, and fed and washed in pure spring water. It takes its name from Tunki, a locally-found wild bird.
I just want to take a moment to mention our suppliers. Leon and Peter discovered this coffee quite a few years ago. Since I first tried it, I haven’t brought Peruvian coffee anywhere else. The guys are great, they look after their farmers and I know that the product will always be exceptional.
The name Tunki comes from the locally found wild bird (also known as ‘cock of the rocks’) and is traditionally farmed by hand and produced without the use of nasty pesticides or chemicals. Situated high in the mountains amongst the most beautiful flora and fauna of the Tambopata Valley, the coffee beans are firstly fed and washed by pure spring waters and then harvested by the local indigenous Quechua and 'Aymara' speaking families. These proud families have worked the area for generations in harmony with the land. At the beginning of each season all farmers make an annual ceremony to the earth 'Pachamama' to ask for blessings for the coming season.

Coffee Bean Shop Ltd reply: Thank you Piers,
We really appreciate you taking the time to post your review. This is also the first choice/go to coffee of Lizzie (founder of Coffee Bean Shop) and a firm favourite with many of our customers!
Best wishes, Jenni & all The Bean Team.
first bean machine, first time order, I'm not a serious coffee drinker but i do like to try things that are not always in the shops. This Tunki is my first drink in the new machine....O...M...G i love it and so does the wife. A great smell that i look forward to in the morning now. Not a strong taste, but not weak either, and that chocolatey, nutty, aroma, for me is great. For others that want to expand their taste in coffee, really recommend this one, and customer service is really good too...stop reading...get ordering!Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By steven batten

Coffee Bean Shop Ltd reply: A perfect summary of our Peruvian Tunki Steve! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your review. This is the go to coffee of Lizzie, our founder, so you're in good company!
Best regards, Jenni & all The Bean Team.
The smell of the freshly ground beans of the Peruvian Tunki is fantastic, but promises more than it can give. I found it a bit too mild for my caffetere but nice as an espresso. Good flavour which improves as you drink. Just not as strong as the smell would lead yu to believe.Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!]By Lee Howell

Coffee Bean Shop Ltd reply: Hi Lee,
Thank you for taking the time to share your review of our Peruvian Tunki. I'm sorry it didn't live up to your expectations strength wise. I would certainly recommend trying both our Colombian Bucaramanga & Guatemala El Fogon as they have similar cup characteristics but with more depth creating an altogether richer cup!
Best wishes, The Bean Team.
I really like this coffee, it has become my "go to" and I have found that even when it's cold (I get distracted from my mugs frequently) the flavour is incredible. Highly recommend this coffee!Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By Laura Clarke

This is a really sensational coffee. It’s complexity increases as you continue to drink it. That to me is what quality coffee should be about.

Coffee Bean Shop Ltd reply: Hi Vincent,
Thank you for sharing your review - a brilliant description! Our Peruvian Tunki is our founder, Lizzie's go to coffee, you clearly have good taste!
Many thanks again & best wishes - Jenni & The Bean Team.
Ordered from Coffeebean shop last Thursday (first order). Known about them for a while however have never had the intuition to use them until now.
The beans arrived in under a day, in that time I also received a customer call to say thank you for my order and received a number of free samples too.
I am kicking myself for not placing an order sooner. Not only do they offer a wonderful customer service, quick delivery (at a very reasonable price), the beans themselves are in my personal opinion better than any other coffee bean website I have ordered from.
If you are ever in doubt, please take my word for it that the beans are unrivalled for quality. I will be using them from here on in and will be cancelling all other subscriptions.Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By Michael Wallace

I drink mugs of Latte with an extra shot of espresso, made with a Jura bean to cup machine, so I thought "How much difference can there be in diffeent types of coffee"? The answer, quite a lot. This is possibly the 2nd best coffee (after the Hawiian Kona) that I've tasted, so far, it's as good (IMHO) as the Kopi Luwak that I tried just before it. I may not be able to drink espresso or taste the different flavours in coffee, but I know what I like and I like Peruvian Tunki.Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]By Paul Wigley
